Biodiversity, trophic interactions and feeding behavior of Protists in Biological Soil Crusts from dunes

Protists as integral constituents of trophic chains and nutrient cycles contribute significantly to decomposition and mineralization processes and hence are key ecosystem functions in soils. Since there are lack of ecological studies on Protists from biological soil crusts due to their challenging isolation, identification and cultivation processes, this project will focus on mentioned aspects, besides the biodiversity and feeding experiments of protists from dunes. Also, sequencing and phylogenetic techniques are needed for determination of them.
